Purpose. To minimize transportation costs and improve mission effectiveness, there is an increased effort to utilize Operational Support Airlift (OSA). When executed properly, the use of OSA assets makes significant contributions to airlift support while avoiding the high cost of tactical assault support and/or commercial travel. Appropriate use of OSA programs also enables aircrews to perform dynamic training in conjunction with official DoW travel to support operational and wartime readiness requirements.
