Background. Generative AI capabilities present unique and  exciting opportunities for the Marine Corps, with the potential to  improve mission processes by enhancing operational speed and  efficiency, improving decision-making accuracy, reducing human  involvement in redundant, tedious, and dangerous tasks, and enabling  real-time adaptability to dynamic operational environments. This  advancement can boost mission effectiveness and operational  readiness, providing a strategic edge in modern warfare. Commanders  and senior leaders should advocate for the use of generative AI  tools for their appropriate use cases.  2.a. Generative AI tools present unique challenges in terms of data  privacy, security, and control over the generated content. The use  of such tools will be evaluated and monitored in accordance with the policies that govern the use of government information systems.  2.b. Generative AI systems can produce misleading, inaccurate, and  ungrounded information. The guidance in REF A outlines the  expectations for generative AI system developers, system owners,  and users to ensure the responsible and ethical application of  generative AI tools.  3.
