The Deputy Commandant for Information (DC I) takes pleasure in announcing the winners of the Spring 2025 Cyber Capture the Flag (CTF) competition. DC I, in partnership with the Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWC), the National Cyber Range and under the DoD Test Management Resource Center conducted a remote CTF event with secure access provided through the Joint Information Operations Range (JIOR). 2. Background. From 12 to 29 May 2025, DC I hosted a remote, Service-wide Capture the Flag competition. Participation in this event was open to Service Members and DoD Civilians from across the Cyber Mission Force including Reserve components. The CTF competition provided a venue where Marine cyberspace operators could compete in a tailored scenario to complete cyber challenges of varying difficulty to capture objectives, referred to as cyber flags. The teams were given 16 hours over a two-day period to obtain as many cyber flags as possible. 2.a. Command Representation. Nine Marine teams participated in the CTF competition from the following units: 8th Comm Bn (two teams), 9th Comm Bn (two teams), 3rd Radio Bn (two teams), 2nd Network Bn, USMC Tactical Cyber Innovation Team (TACIT two teams). 2.b. Winning Team. Team "CHUCHEZ," representing III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group (III MIG), 3rd Radio Battalion, secured first place overall at the competition. Demonstrating exceptional skill and teamwork, "CHUCHEZ" outperformed a field of highly competitive teams, including 2nd Network Battalion's "Key_Strokes," who earned a well-deserved second place overall. The winning team "CHUCHEZ" comprised the following Marines: Staff Sergeant Daniel Williamson (Team Lead), Sergeant Ean Goodwin, Sergeant Michael Saris, Sergeant Thomas Stejskal, Corporal Joseph Bedwell, Corporal Ashton Herrera, Corporal Joseph Hunt, Lance Corporal Tyler Bungert, Lance Corporal Jordan Wilken, Lance Corporal Christopher Camreno. 3. The 2025 Fall Marine Corps Cyber Games announcement will be released in the upcoming months via MARADMIN. The winner of this Fall CTF will be awarded the opportunity to represent the Marine Corps in the System Administrator, Audit, Network and Security (SANS) Service Cup.
