GOZZI/1STLT/CMC (MPE)/TEL:  COM 703-432-9337/DSN 378/ EMAIL:  [email protected]// GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  This MARADMIN aims to solicit nominations for  the 2024 Association of Naval Services Officers (ANSO) Leadership  Awards, presented by ANSO during the 2024 ANSO Western Region  Symposium. 2.  The ANSO Leadership Awards recognize the achievements of sea  service members (including students in the United States (U.S.)  Service Academies) and Civilian Marines who embody high  professional standards and uphold the ANSO core values of  leadership, excellence, and dedication in their commands and local  communities.  ANSO is a non-federal entity wholly independent of  the Marine Corps. 3.  ANSO Leadership Awards Information.  The ANSO Leadership Awards  are a testament to our commitment to inclusivity and equality.   They are open to all Marines, Sailors, and Civilian Marines,  regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or sexual  orientation.  The ANSO Leadership Awards website contains  additional information about the awards: https:(slash)(slash)  www.ansomil.org/anso-honors-and-awards/. 3.a.  The “El Buen Timonel”/”Good Helmsman” Award for Outstanding  Leadership.  This award is presented to junior enlisted Marines or  Sailors (E-3 to E-6) and current cadets and midshipmen enrolled at  U.S. Service Academies.  The award recognizes the leadership  demonstrated by the individual as a “Good Helmsman” or  “Buen Timonel” by displaying high professional standards in their  line of service, maintaining personal toughness and readiness, and  generous mentorship to all ranks, as well as our youth. 3.b.  The “La Cresta De La Ola”/”The Crest of the Wave” Award for  Persistent Commitment to Excellence.  This award is presented to  active duty and reserve junior officers (O-1 to O-4) and Civilian  Marines (GS-5 to GS-12).  The award recognizes the continuous  commitment to personal and professional excellence, embody command  readiness, and actively involved in ANSO’s mission.  Nominees for  this award are change agents ready to incorporate process  improvement initiatives to increase the lethality of our force. 3.c.  The “Pensar Mas Alla”/”Thinking Outside the Box” Award for  Innovation in the Art of War.  This award is presented to active  duty and reserve Marines or Sailors who display a spirit of  innovation reflected in better thinking inside (leveraging given  resources) and outside (recognizing better ways to implement  resources and modify) the box.  The award celebrates the innovating  drive common in the Hispanic American mindset and closely connected  to the American spirit. 3.d.  The “Primera Clase”/”First Rate” Award for Excellence in  Operational Competence.  This award is presented to active duty and  reserve service members who display problem solving abilities and  represent our core values, exemplifying strong operational planning  and problem solving skills in the execution of respective duties.   The term “First Rate” denotes excellence and was attributed to the  ships with the most capabilities and outstanding performance during  maritime battles. 4.  ANSO Leadership Awards Nominations 4.a.  Awards nominations must be received no later than 0800 (EST),  28 October 2024. 4.a.1.  Nominations must be submitted to ANSO at the ANSO  Leadership Awards website:  [https:(slash)(slash) www.ansomil.org/anso-honors-and-awards/](https:(slash)(slash) www.ansomil.org/anso-honors-and-awards/).   4.b.  Awardee Criteria.  Nominations must include a summary of  action from the nominee’s commanding officer or equivalent  detailing the nominee's achievements.  An award citation of 18  lines or less in landscape orientation will be submitted in the  nomination package.  Both the summary of action and citation must  be Times New Roman, 12-point font with 1-inch margins.  Submissions  must include an updated command photo and professional biography  that will be submitted to the ANSO awards selection committee. 4.c.  The Culture and Inclusion Branch (MPE) will announce the  award selectees via MARADMIN and will coordinate with each selectee  for attendance at the symposium.  Selected awardees will be funded  by MPE to receive their award at the 2024 ANSO Western Region  Symposium.  The symposium occurs from 2–6 December 2024 at Marine  Corps Air Station Miramar. 5.  This MARADMIN applies to the Marine Corps Total Force. 6.  Release authorized by Brigadier General David R.
